GUIDED  TOURS

RAFTING RIO CANGREJAL  CLASS III TO IV RAPIDS

The lodge is famous for their rafting tours, as we are the only company in Honduras working with bilingual, licensed and international trained guides. Our beach riding is recommended as the best in Central America

. An exceptional whitewater rafting experience between giant boulders. All in warm water - no wetsuits! A mind-blowing riverbed with great views of the jungle, right in Pico Bonito National Park.

The OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE is situated by the rafting put-in. In the welcome shade of the Lodge we begin our ‘pre-rafting’ preparations. Following a short climb down into the giant riverbed of the Rio Cangrejal (river of crabs) we make first contact with the liquid element. By floating through a friendly rapid we warm up for the following: excellent class III-IV rapids, some steep drops, some long wave-trains.

During the trip we stop several times: a 5 meter cliff jump straight into the current, friendly rapids to float through and a 100m rock gorge we can swim through. All big fun in crystal clear, warm water between giant, smooth house-sized rocks…!

If it rains and the river is full (it may rise up to 10m in one night!) - then we would paddle another part of the river - but we will certainly take you on a great, fun day of rafting whatever the weather! At the take out our Adventure Jeep shuttles us back to our lodge. End of trip.

At the half way point there is a great opportunity to not only raft through Pico Bonito N.P. but to step right into it. We leave our raft on the side of the river just where a fresh jungle creek flows into the Cangrejal. Following that same attractive creek, we hike up (approx 30 min.) to take a shower under a 10m waterfall, dropping into a crystal clear deep pool. Of course we hang out there for a while before we hike back down to our raft.

Duration : 4 hours.

KAYAKING CLASS I OR V RAPIDS

Adrenaline inducing kayaking, between giant boulders, in warm water, through the jungle on an immense riverbed, in the Pico Bonito National Park. At the OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE we do some theory and basic paddle instructions in the pool, load our kayaks on top of our jeep and drive 2 min. to the put-in and see how we do in the first easy rapids. Breathtaking scenery, with the El Bejuco waterfall and Pico Bonito N.P. always in sight. After none or some “flip overs”our Jeep picks you up.

 Duration : 4 - 6 hours

CACAO LAGOON

Tranquil kayaking or dugout canoeing through the Cacao Lagoon. The day is spent enjoying the mangroves, wildlife and a wide open beach.

The trip begins at the Omega Jungle Lodge where we take approximately 45 minute drive to Cacao Lagoon. Here we drive through the small fishing village surrounded by an old coco plantation of Cacao to the Lagoon.  We unload our equipment, jump into our boats and first weaving through a small Mangrove channel out into the Lagoon. Paddling along the lagoons edge we can see and hear a lot of wildlife and see the local people fish from and sail their dugout canoes. Before long we enter the ‘Monkey Channel’, another narrow channel full of mangroves. This is where most of the wildlife sightings occur, lots of birds, bats and howler monkeys are often seen. From here we then paddle to the Caribbean Sea where we get picturesque views of a serene beach and the nearby Cayos Cochinos. It is here we have an enjoyable swim and beach picnic.  After lunch, we paddle back across the lagoon to our Jeep and head back to the OMEGA JUNGLE LODGE

Duration : 5 - 6 hours
